Two primary options are available for undergraduates, a major and a minor. Students wishing to focus on multi-disciplinary studies in order to create a coherent and comprehensive analysis of women and gender may elect the major; it consists of 4 required and 10 elective courses in two categories, for a total of 14 courses. Those wishing to augment study in another discipline may elect the minor in addition to a major in their chosen field; it consists of 3 required and 5 elective courses, for a total of 8 courses. A double major, Honors in the major, Education Abroad, independent research, internships, and participation with selected faculty in the Division of Honors' Student Research Program are additional options.
APPROVED COURSES
Three types of courses meet the Program requirements:
- Courses sponsored by WS
- Courses multi-listed with WS and another departments
- Selected departmental courses
The General Catalog section on Women's Studies includes full course descriptions for WS-sponsored or multi-listed courses, and a listing of regularly offered departmental courses (see those departmental listings for those course descriptions).
The Schedule of Classes lists those courses being offered for each quarter; it will include courses described in the General Catalog and courses which are offered just for that quarter (special topics, new courses, advanced seminars, etc.).
