RESEARCH INTERESTS
My research explores the ways in which queer and racialized representations of femininity and femme identity circulate discursively and materially through such sites as the internet, television, conference meetings, critical anthologies, and performances. I seek to address the effects of these circulations at our present historical juncture in which the trope of femininity is an oft-relied upon device in the discipline and surveillance of women of color bodies and subjectivities. Other interests: multicultural-transnational, queer-feminist cultural production; “new” queer studies; borderlands theory; Chicana and Mexicana lesbian feminist scholarship and activism; histories of women of color feminist knowledge production.
